It’s hard to believe but it’s almost 5 years since my son, Daniel, was diagnosed with cancer and began his road to recovery.

That road lead us to Chai Lifeline and its wonderful Camp Simcha, a magical haven that brings joy to more than 400 kids with cancer and other serious illnesses. As you may know, the camp, along with Chai Lifeline’s other programs and services, relies on generous donations to allow kids to go to camp free of charge. For families overwhelmed with medical bills, this is a tremendous gift. (To learn more, visit

This will be my 5th year riding in the Tour de Simcha, a 78-mile bike ride from New Jersey to upstate New York to raise money for Camp Simcha. I am proud to be part of this team of amazing and dedicated women athletes. We’ve become great friends. We train together, we inspire each other, and work together to help families in crisis. We’ve grown from 70 riders in 2013 to 267 riders this year. Last year we raised $1.2 million!

This year, I am dedicating my ride to Emunah Chana Tova, a courageous young woman who inspires us daily with her joie vivre and her genuine love for kids of all ages as she battles a rare form of cancer.

I also am riding with tremendous gratitude that Daniel is not only in remission, but is thriving both physically and emotionally. He is completing his freshman year at the Frisch School and is on the wrestling team. He has become a fitness junkie and is my personal trainer - and he seems to relish working me very hard!!

I truly believe that healing from illness comes in many forms. The amazing friendships Daniel made as a camper, which continue to this day, lifted his spirits and fueled him to push through the grueling treatment and side effects.

So please join me once again in this important mission to support these children. My goal for this year is to raise $15,000 as this will enable more children to go to camp. I am grateful for any support that you can give. With that support, please feel free to send names of people you’d like me to remember, honor, or send a healing blessing to and I will carry them with me on the road to Camp Simcha.

With heartfelt appreciation,

P.S. Donations, which are 100% tax deductible, can be made directly on my fundraising page:
If you’d rather send a check, please write it to Chai Lifeline and mail it to me at Leslie Morrison, 10 Idaho St., Passaic, NJ 07055.
